On Wednesday afternoon, September 2nd, Hurricane Jimena made landfall on the Baja peninsula. Though with great luck the hurricane, which was expected to be a Category 4, fell to a lesser strength. Despite the decline in category size Hurricane Jimena has hit Baja California Sur with an indifference to it’s estimated power and has caused considerable damage to the residents and the landscape of the country. Jimena has forced at least 35,000 people from their homes and cut electricity supplies to even more homes. The cities affected most were found in Ciudad Constitucionin, Comondu, Loreto and Mulege in Baja California Sur in the northwest. Jimena also affected telephone services and damaged drinking water pipelines in some areas of Mexico.
Ecoyeco would like to extend a hand to the people living within the impact area. In the expectation that such a storm would, among other damages, cause electricity loss, Ecoyeco finds themselves in a position to assist. Ecoyeco wishes to offer a 10% discount on all solar electric products to those within 20 miles of the impact zone.
