Solar Water Heating – What is it?

Solar Water Heating is not to be confused with solar electricity or PV cells. It is not the same process, so don’t get a large photo voltaic system and have an electric water heater, you would be paying approximately four times the price for the same result, hot water.

Let us talk about solar water heaters, they are great for special uses like heating your pool and also for all regular hot water uses around your home or business.

The water is heated directly by the sun, sunlight is not converted into electricity first, this would be highly inefficent and costly. The independent collector system is placed on your roof or in any other location where it can be exposed to the greatest amount of sun exposure. The sun’s heat is captured with the help of the collectors or evacuated tube systems and pumped into a hot water storage tank that is on the inside or outside of your home.

The system works every day, without the need for any supervision and stores hot water for even the longest period of bad cloudy weather.

Our complete standard solar packages have a reserve gas or electric heater just like you have in your currently. This is used during days of prolonged bad weather or in the event that you need an unusually large amount of hot water in a short period of time. This means you WILL NEVER RUN OUT OF HOT WATER! You don’t have to worry about anything.

In today’s market you can choose between a variety of modern technologies, such as the newest generation of Flat plate collectors or the solar thermal evacuated solar tube systems, which are the heart of the entire system.

Just like with cars there are certain brands that are simply better than others.
Here at Eco & Eco we label our products with where they come from and we carry brands which have been proved, through personal experience, to be superior above the others.

We know that in places like sunny Southern California and Baja, Mexico
sun radiation is abundant throughout the year and a Modern Flate Plate collector is an efficient system that will prove to be the best return for your money.

A highly insulated Flat plate collector like we offer at Eco & Eco loses very little heat and will produce a great number of BTU’s (British Thermal Unit), even in winter months.

An evacuated thermal tube system produces higher internal temperatures and will operate efficiently even under very cold temperatures and in windy regions of the world.

In such cases where even modern flat panel collector could only have a fraction the performance of a
thermal tube system we suggest spending a little more for the tube system.
Be aware that there are many “brands” that sell cheap Chinese solar tube systems that are warrantied and SRCC certified but will fail in a short period of time.
